After finishing “Benito Cereno” Herman Melville depiction of slavery was that he believed in abolition. He wanted slavery to stop because of how it impacted the African Americans. The novella depicts enslavement in both positive and negative lights. It depicts enslavement in a positive light because it talks about how the slaves wanted their freedom. It also depicts enslavement in a negative light because it talks about how they are afraid of them revolting in a violent way. I sympathize the slaves in the conclusion of the story because the slaves were driven out of their homes and away from their families and were in a boat against their will.  Delano’s blindness resulted in him not knowing what the danger is. This is because he believed that he had a lot of power.
