In Chapter 5 of “Rhetorical, Poetics, and Poetry the author uses metaphors. According to the article it states “a metaphor treats something as something else.” This rhetorical figure helps readers understand what their reading.

In the poem “Diving Into The Wreck” by Adrianne Rich included a metaphor to compare one thing to another. The metaphor was “the thing I came for: the wreck and not the story of the wreck the thing itself and not the myth. This is a metaphor because it is comparing between the real life and the news that we are told by other people. The character wants to experience the wreck, she doesn’t want to told about it. She wants to know for herself.
