- In Chapter 6 “Narrative,” Jonathan Culler outlines how literary scholars understand narrative structure. He identifies two main features that scholars discuss: plot and discourse. We can think of these features as the events of the story and how these events are told. Think of an example from your own experience and discuss how it sets up the narrative: this example uses plot and discourse. This could be a piece of fiction you’ve read, like a novel or short story, or something watched like a movie, television show, or play. (Feel free to post images and/or clips of your example.)
